Privacy Policy for QR Scanner

QR Scanner is a mobile application that lets you scan QR codes and barcodes, keep a searchable history of your scans, and generate exportable QR images. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and with whom it is shared. 김민형 (also known as "rexyrex"; "we", "us", "our") provides this app. By downloading or using QR Scanner, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Some information is collected automatically when you use the app, and some is created or accessed only when you take a specific action (such as scanning a code or saving an image). We have designed QR Scanner to keep as much of your data as possible on your own device.
1.1 Automatically Collected Information
When you use the app, our analytics and crash-reporting providers may automatically collect technical information such as your device model, operating system version, app version, language and region settings, general usage events (for example, which screens are opened), session duration, and crash diagnostics. This information is used to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. It is not used to identify you personally.
1.2 Camera Information
QR Scanner uses your device camera to detect and decode QR codes and barcodes in real time. The camera feed is processed on your device to read codes. We do not record, store, or transmit camera images or video. Camera access is requested only when you use the scanning feature, and you can deny or revoke this permission in your device settings.
1.3 Photos and Media
If you choose to scan a QR code from an existing image, the app accesses the specific photo you select from your photo library so it can be cropped and decoded on your device. If you generate a QR image and choose to save it, the app adds that image to your photo library. We do not read or upload your broader photo library, and the images you select are processed only on your device.
1.4 Scan History and Locally Stored Data
The QR codes and barcodes you scan, along with their timestamps, are stored in a local database on your device so you can browse and search your scan history. The app also stores app preferences locally. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted to us, and is removed when you delete the relevant entries or uninstall the app.
1.5 Advertising Identifiers
The app displays advertisements through Google AdMob, which may access advertising identifiers (the IDFA on iOS and the Advertising ID on Android) and limited interaction data to deliver and measure ads. See the "Advertising and Tracking" section below for details and your choices.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the app's scanning, history, and QR-generation features
- Detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs
- Understand how users interact with the app so we can improve it
- Deliver and measure advertisements
- Invite you to rate the app through your device's native review prompt
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Where data protection laws such as the GDPR apply, we process information on the basis of your consent (for example, when you grant camera or photo permissions, or agree to personalized advertising), our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the app, and the performance of our service to you. You can withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting the relevant permissions in your device settings or by uninstalling the app.
4. Sharing Your Information
We share information only with the third-party service providers listed below, each of which has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.
- Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) — collects usage analytics and crash diagnostics. See Firebase Privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob — serves advertisements and may use advertising identifiers. See How Google uses information.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.
5. Advertising and Tracking
The app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may use device identifiers (the IDFA on iOS and the Advertising ID on Android), approximate location derived from your IP address, and ad-interaction data to deliver ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure performance. You can reset or limit these identifiers at any time in your device settings — on iOS, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking; on Android, go to Settings → Privacy → Ads. On iOS, where applicable, the app may ask for your permission before tracking through the App Tracking Transparency prompt.
6. Analytics
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used. It collects anonymous usage events, screen views, session duration, device and operating system information, and app version. This data is used to improve the app and is not used to identify you.
7. Crash Reporting
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to detect and fix crashes. When the app crashes, a crash report is sent containing device state, operating system version, app version, a stack trace, and a record of recent events leading up to the crash. No personal content is intentionally included, although unexpected data may occasionally appear within a stack trace.
8. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Your scan history and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Data held by third-party providers (such as analytics and crash data) is retained according to each provider's own retention policy.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, object to or restrict the processing of, and port your personal information, as well as to withdraw consent. Because most of your data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly by deleting your scan history or uninstalling the app. For any other request, contact us at the email address below.
10. Children's Privacy
QR Scanner is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. Data Security
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) when data is sent to third-party services and the secure storage facilities provided by the operating system (such as the iOS Keychain and Android Keystore) where applicable. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. International Data Transfers
Because our third-party providers — including Google and Apple — operate globally, your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence, where data protection laws may differ. By using the app, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in such locations.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the Effective Date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
